WEST CHICAGO, Ill. – After a 20-year hiatus, Otter Pops, the delicious and fun freezer pops “like no otter,” will re-enter the world of auto racing at the Bojangles’ Southern 500 race at the Darlington Raceway on Sept. 4.

Otter Pops will serve as the primary sponsor of Jeffrey Earnhardt and Go FAS Racing during the event, with Earnhardt’s Ford carrying a special blue and yellow throwback scheme matching his grandfather Dale Earnhardt’s iconic Wrangler sponsored car.

“I’m really excited to have Otter Pops joining us at Darlington. I’ve been eating them since I can remember and you can’t help but smile when you’re eating an Otter Pop,” said Jeffrey Earnhardt. “It’s hot this summer so I’m happy to have them being part of our team and look forward to eating a bunch of them at Darlington.”

“We’re all very excited to announce Otter Pops’ jumping on board our No.32 Ford Fusion, alongside long time partners, Tom and T.J. Keen of Keen Parts and Corvetteparts.net for the Southern 500,” added team owner Archie St. Hilaire. “We’ve been planning this throwback paint scheme for quite some time now, so it’s great to see so much participation. We can’t thank everyone enough for supporting us.”

Otter Pops has a long association with the racing world, having sponsored cars in the drag racing and Indy car ranks as well as NASCAR throughout the 80s and 90s. However, no accomplishment for the brand’s racing involvement trumps its 1992 Indianapolis 500 win, with Al Unser Jr. driving the Otter Pops car.

“We are very proud to have the opportunity to bring Otter Pops back into the racing world, and even more excited to be able to do it with Jeffrey Earnhardt,” said Kyle Harrington, Brand Manager of Otter Pops. “Given the history of the brand’s involvement in NASCAR and the legacy of Jeffrey’s family, it was a perfect fit!”
