MSR: McCune Marches To Early Lead; Tops Opening Must See Practice At Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Defending Must See Racing Sprint Car Series champion Jimmy McCune led the way in Sunday’s opening practice session for the Engine Pro 50 at Kalamazoo Speedway.

McCune posted a fast lap of 11.225 seconds (120.267 mph) around the lightning-fast, three-eighths mile oval in his No. 88 Abe’s Auto Parts & Sales/B&B Machinery Movers sprinter to lead a 20-car field on Jerry Landon Klassic Night at the historic facility.

Canadian Ryan Litt, who set the fast time at Owosso Speedway on Aug. 6, was second-fastest in the session and about a tenth off McCune’s pace, posting a time of 11.350 seconds (118.943 mph) in the first group of three to post laps.

Former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Bobby Santos III was third overall (11.394/118.483) in the Dick Fieler Racing No. 22A, followed by former MSR supermodified champion Kyle Edwards in fourth (11.487/117.524).

Ryan Gillenwater rounded out the Fast Five, ahead of Tyler Roahrig, Kevin Feeney, Jason Blonde, Teddy Alberts and John Turnbull Jr.

Final practice for the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series rolls off at approximately 3:30 p.m.
