KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Ryan Gillenwater picked up right where the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series left off in 2014 at Kalamazoo Speedway, topping Engine Pro Time Trials for his second-career series quick time on Sunday afternoon.

Gillenwater posted a fast lap of 10.720 seconds (125.933 mph) around the three-eighths mile oval in his No. 45 Akron Hardware/WIX Filters entry, garnering his second consecutive fast qualifying time at Kalamazoo after also leading the series’ time trials there two years ago.

“It was a very smooth run,” Gillenwater said. “I was just trying to be as consistent as possible. This track is so momentum-based that any little bobble can kill your speed. We just settled down our car from practice and got it to turn a little better, and lo and behold the changes worked.”

“After the first lap I had a ton of confidence, and that second lap was killer quick. We’re really happy with it and we’ll see what we can do with it in the main tonight.”

Canadian Ryan Litt, who set fast time at Owosso Speedway on Aug. 6, clocked in second-overall with a best lap of 10.742 seconds (125.675 mph) in the No. 07 BS&B Radiator machine. Litt is looking for his first-career win at Kalamazoo Speedway in series competition.

Defending series champion Jimmy McCune was third-quick (10.771/125.337) ahead of Jason Blonde (10.816/124.815) and Bobby Santos III (10.940/123.400).

Chris Neuenschwander, Tyler Roahrig, Kyle Edwards, Jerry Caryer and John Turnbull Jr. completed the top 10.

Racing action for the Jerry Landon Klassic kicks off at 6 p.m. local time at Kalamazoo Speedway.
