DETROIT – Report by Race Chaser Online Mid-Atlantic Correspondent Marshall Gabell – Fox Sports photo –

Jake Weimer and Trey Canard were involved in a gruesome incident this evening at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan during semi-qualifiers for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, event later tonight.

According to multiple sources, Weimer was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation following the wreck and Canard remains in the medical center for evaluation.

From the footage, it appears that Canard landed on the neck and upper back of Weimer – contact that sent both drivers tumbling to the ground.

Canard came up grabbing his arm while Weimer was helped by medial personnel and carried from the track.

After both drivers were unable to compete in the main event, it was announced that both competitors had broken their arm — an upper arm fracture for Weimer and a lower arm break for Canard.

The timetable for their returns is unknown at this time.

We have posted the video below (viewer discretion is advised). Race Chaser Online will continue to monitor the situation and pass along any updates that we receive.
