Cole Custer will do double duty at Road America this weekend, driving in both the ARCA and XFINITY races.

STATESVILLE, N.C. – NASCAR XFINITY Series rookie Cole Custer will make his first ARCA Racing Series start of the season this weekend at Road America, driving for Mason Mitchell Motorsports.

Custer will be behind the wheel of the HAAS Automation No. 78 for the 2014 championship team.

“In road-course racing, the competition is more on the driver’s shoulders compared to your traditional oval-styled track, Custer explained. “You’re on the edge of your seat for the entire race and even the smallest mistake could take you out of the race.”

“I enjoy road-course racing and challenging my skills as a driver. I’m really looking forward to returning to the ARCA Racing Series. Especially with a team like Mason Mitchell Motorsports. They build great cars. I know we will have a chance to win on Sunday.”

The 19-year-old’s last ARCA start came last July at Iowa Speedway, where he finished seventh. In five series starts, Custer has one win (at Pocono Raceway in 2015) and four top-ten finishes.

Custer will pull double duty on Sunday. First, he will compete in the 25-lap ARCA 100. He will then compete in the 45-lap NASCAR XFINITY Series Johnsonville 180.
