CEDAR LAKE, Wis. — Kerry Madsen dominated the proceedings during night one of the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown at Cedar Lake Speedway, leading 39 of the 40 laps to score his second World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series win of the season.

It was a near-perfect night for the Australian, who set fast time in qualifying and won his heat race, but it was Jac Haudenschild who won the Craftsman Club Dash and started on the pole for the main event.

On his return to the Stenhouse Jr./Wood Racing No. 17 after a three-race medical absence from an injury at Beaver Dam Raceway, it appeared as though Haudenschild might be in position to score his first World of Outlaws win since 2010, but the ‘Wild Child’ faded throughout the feature and finished 13th after being lapped with two to go.

Haudenschild led the opening lap before Madsen took control, with Madsen surviving contact with Donny Schatz to take the lead and drive off into the distance.

Meanwhile, Brad Sweet and Schatz came in behind Madsen in second and third, running that way from the point that Schatz scraped the wall on the first lap.

One incidents set up a restart that Madsen had to weather, coming on lap 21, when Jason Johnson hit the wall on the exit of Turn 2, but he drove away to his 21st-career Outlaws win and broke a tie with Tim Kaeding for 19th on the all-time list.

Greg Wilson charged from 15th to fourth, just ahead of David Gravel, who completed the top five.
