HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Pennsylvania Posse finally got one-up on Kyle Larson Wednesday night, as Lance Dewease ended Larson’s six-race sprint car win streak with a PA Speedweek triumph at Hagerstown Speedway.

The win in the 30-lap Johnny Grum Memorial was worth $5,000.

Despite a rain shower in the afternoon and a second rain delay before the 410 sprint car B-Main, Dewease worked his way forward from 10th, passing polesitter and race-long leader Freddie Rahmer on lap 25 and leading the remaining distance for his first Speedweek win of the summer.

The win for Dewease, who is only running a partial Speedweek schedule this year, was his second-straight at Hagerstown during Speedweek action and his sixth of the year for car owner Don Kreitz Jr.

“(Rahmer) probably had a little bit better car than me but he just kind of didn’t know what to do with a couple of those lapped cars,” Dewease said in victory lane. “I hit a couple marks really good and got a good run at him. It’s always easier when you’re second in lapped cars than leading.”

“Tonight was a great night,” Dewease added. “We weren’t very good there in the heat race, and they kept working hard on it, and got it better. I’m glad I ain’t gonna have to race little Freddie (Rahmer) the rest of my career, because he’ll be racing way longer than I’ll be racing. He’s turning into a helluva good racer in a little bit of time, and my hat’s off to him, his dad, and everybody on that team.”

Rahmer finished second to extend his Speedweek points lead, followed by Rico Abreu, Ryan Smith and Danny Dietrich.

Larson started 18th after a tough qualifying effort and ran up to 11th in the final rundown, while fellow Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star Kasey Kahne finished 17th.

Both drivers will head on from Hagerstown to participate in this weekend’s NASCAR action at Kentucky Speedway.
