Entering its third season of operation in 2015, the Stockton Dirt Track located on the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds has released its preliminary slate of events for the upcoming year, placing a focus on touring groups and special events.
The season kicks off with the first ever two-night World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event at the Stockton Dirt Track March 21-22. The FVP Western Spring Shootout will be the third straight year that the Greatest Show on Dirt has competed at the track. Previous World of Outlaws winners at Stockton include Elk Grove’s Kyle Larson and most recently Australian Kerry Madsen, who won in a photo finish last year with eventual series champion Donny Schatz.
Delta Speedway, also located on the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, will be running a special race on March 20, making it a three-night race weekend on the property. There is also a post race party in the works for Saturday night following the races.
The summer months will showcase a pair of events featuring the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series and the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Series. Those dates will be June 13 and Aug. 1.
Both of those groups will also return in November as part of a big weekend paying honor to the legendary Gary Patterson. This coming season finds the event morphing into a two-night affair, with Nov. 6 showcasing the traveling BCRA Midgets, Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Series and Dwarf Cars.
The big finale on Nov. 7 marks the 32nd annual Tribute to Gary Patterson and once again will play host as championship night for both the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series and the Civil War Sprint Car Series presented by Flowmaster. This past season saw 72 cars pack the pit area to cap the Northern California season in grand fashion and crown the state’s two most prestigious Winged Sprint Car champions.
Other special nights at the Stockton Dirt Track will be June 20 when the Super Tractor Pulls invade the facility. Oct. 9-10 will then see the return of Monster Truck Madness. On April 25-26 the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience comes to the Stockton Dirt Track for the first time.
