RUNAWAY BAY, TX – Freeman Racing Team PR – John Freeman had an up and down weekend of racing between Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday he finished a very strong third place at Boyd Raceway in Boyd, Texas. The next night he went to Kennedale Raceway Park in Kennedale, Texas and struggled to a ninth place finish.
Despite his struggles on Saturday night, the fan-friendly 17-year-old remained optimistic about the weekend and his future chances at victory.
“Saturday night was a challenge but you’re going to have those nights,” John smiled. “Friday night was fantastic. We led the first 11 laps before both Allen Montgomery and Chad Hertel got by. We ran third until a late race yellow set up a green-white-checkered finish. We had second for a moment on the restart but Gabe Tucker got by. We just couldn’t quite return the favor so we finished third. I was so proud of how good the car was and excited to be in the hunt the whole event!”
Asked to elaborate a bit on Saturday night, John explained, “We started seventh in that feature and ran there a while before we got together with Wesley McNorton and we lost a few spots. The car tightened up, so it didn’t want to turn toward the end of the race. I started running the bottom and made up some ground but had to settle for ninth. We just never got going forward in that race but our time will come!”
