The start of tonight’s NASCAR XFINITY Series Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway has been delayed due to wet weather.

After NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying was scrapped due to the threat of rain and lightning in close proximity to the speedway, the rain finally hit the race track around 6:30 p.m. local time, roughly an hour prior to the scheduled start of the Saturday night race — set to be race 15 of the 2015 NXS championship trail.

NASCAR has a fleet of Air Titan track driers on hand, and track drying has begun at DIS in hopes that the full 100-lap, 250-mile distance can be completed tonight.

Daniel Suarez, who earned his first career series pole during Coors Light Pole Qualifying earlier in the afternoon, and Brian Scott will lead the field to green when the race gets underway. Both front row starters are searching for their first career series victories.
