HAMPTON, Va. — By Jason Christley, NASCAR — Getty Images for NASCAR photo — Scott Heckert topped NASCAR’s hottest driver to earn his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East 21 Means 21 presented by Coors Brewing Company Pole Award Saturday in qualifying for the evening’s Visit Hampton VA 175 at Langley Speedway.
Heckert recorded a lap of 15.869 seconds (89.836 mph) around the .396-mile oval to claim the top spot.
Points leader Ben Rhodes qualified second at 15.966 (89.290). Rhodes, a Turner Scott Motorsports teammate of Heckert, enters the weekend having won three straight and four of the last five K&N Pro East races.
Rookie Nick Drake qualified third at 15.992 (89.145), followed by Cameron Hayley and Kenzie Ruston.
Jay Beasley, a rookie with for Rev Racing and the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program, qualified sixth. Gray Gaulding, Beasley’s teammate Ryan Gifford, Brandon Gdovic and Jesse Little rounded out the top 10.
The Visit Hampton VA 175 is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
