MARTINSVILLE, Va. — official event report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman —

Ty Spearman and Scott Howell will lead the field to the green flag in Saturday night’s ASRA-sanctioned Rocket Tire Services 300 for late model stock cars at the virtual Martinsville Speedway.

The duo set the two fastest times in Thursday night qualifying, with Spearman topping a field of more than 70 entries after posting a lap of 19.217 seconds around the 0.533-mile concrete bullring nicknamed ‘The Paper Clip.’

Howell was just seven one-thousandths (0.007) of a second behind in the session that only locked in the front row for Saturday night’s 200-lap main event.

Four 20-lap heat races set positions three to 34 on the grid, locking in the top eight finishers from each heat to the main event. Marvin Turnmire Jr., Windell Stratton, Bryan Fallen and Bentley Glaser took the wins in their respective heats and will fill out the second and third rows for Saturday’s race.

The final eight positions on the grid will be finalized through a 50-lap last chance qualifier, held just prior to the main event on Saturday evening.

The Rocket Tire Services 300 goes green at 9:30 p.m. ET Saturday night, with live broadcast coverage on LSRTV.
