MOORESVILLE, N.C. — team release — MMM photo — Newly-crowned ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Mason Mitchell is gearing up for a week-long media tour in Des Moines, Iowa, starting Monday morning with a victory lap in downtown Des Moines.
Mitchell, driver of the No. 98 Musselman’s-Wildlife Foundation of Florida-TTS Ford, will take a victory lap in downtown Des Moines, driving the same car that he won with at Chicagoland Speedway in July and the same car he used to clinch the 2014 ARCA Racing Series championship at Kansas Speedway Friday night.
“This is something I always dreamed of,” Mitchell said. “This is truly special and is going to be something I will always remember for the rest of my life. Hopefully they will let me do a quick burnout in the streets.”
The victory lap will be four miles in length, ending in 23 KCWI’s parking lot. Before the victory lap Monday morning, Mitchell will be a guest on 23 KCWI’s Great Day, with Lou Sipolt Jr. at 6:40 a.m. CT/7:40 ET.
Earlier in the weekend, Mitchell was a guest on FOX Sports 1 during the NASCAR Nationwide Series qualifying show. Mitchell also had the opportunity to talk to Claire B. Lang on NASCAR SiriusXM Radio.
The week long media tour will end Friday night at Valley High School, Mitchell’s alma mater. Mitchell graduated from Valley in 2012. The school will host Mitchell’s championship car and honor him during the halftime show.
Mitchell was the model of consistency in 2014 earning one win, 12 top-fives, 18 top-10s and five Menards Pole Awards presented by Ansell.
Mitchell became the first Iowa native in 40 years to win the ARCA Racing Series championship. Along with winning the title, Mitchell, 20, became the third youngest champion in series history, behind Chris Buescher and Ty Dillon.
