The New England racing scene is quickly moving towards the heat of the summer and the action on the track is hot and heavy.
This week, multiple New England race tracks have special events and extra distance races that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.
Let’s take a look at this weekends action around the Northeast in this weeks edition of “The Week Ahead.”
Seekonk Speedway (Seekonk, MA)
This Friday night the Fast Friday series will continue with round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Pure Stock division. The race will be 30 laps in distance. Joining the Pure Stocks will be the SYRA 600, SYRA 750, Sport 4 and the Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Cars. Action begins at 7 PM.
On Saturday night, the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Pro Stocks will be in action in round one of their Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series in a 75 lap event. It will also be the Brad Scott Memorial for the Pro Stocks. Joining them will be the Late Models, Street Stocks and Sports Truck in regular feature events. Action begins at 6 PM.
New London-Waterford Speedbowl (Waterford, CT)
On Thursday evening, the New-London Waterford Speedbowl will hold their normal weekly Thursday Night Thunder. The X-cars, Super X-cars, Legends and Bandolero divisions will be in action for regular racing. Action begins at 7 PM.
On Saturday night, the NASCAR Whelen All American Series action will continue with a special 50-lap Mini Stock feature event headlining the nights action. Also joining the weekly program, the Vintage Outlaws and Pro 4 modified touring series will compete in 20 lap events. The Late Models, Limited Sportsman and SK Modified divisions will also be on hand for normal feature events.
Saturday night racing will begin with heat racing at 5 PM.
Stafford Motor Speedway (Stafford, CT)
The 15th annual Summer Blastoff will be held on Friday night June 19. The SK Modifieds will have an extra distance 45-lap race as part of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series.
Joining the SK Modifieds will be the Late Models, SK Light Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Dare Stocks and Legend Cars. Heat racing action begins at 6:15 PM.
Lee USA Speedway (Lee, NH)
The Valenti Modified Racing Series (VMRS) will invade the Lee USA Speedway on Friday evening with twin 50-lap main events for the first time in series history. The race was split from a 100 lap feature into two separate 50 lap “sprint” races to keep drivers from being in driver conservation mode for the whole feature event.
Favorites going into the weekend included Woody Pitkat, who comes into the event in the top five in Valenti Modified Racing Series point standings. Originally, Pitkat was scheduled to be a part of SK Modified action at Stafford Motor Speedway, but since he was suspended, he has elected to head north to the Lee USA Speedway.
Joining the VMRS on Friday evening will be the regular NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions. The Supermodifieds, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Ironman will hit the track beginning with heat racing at 7 PM.
Monadnock Speedway (Winchester, NH)
On Saturday night June 20, the NASCAR Whelen All American Series will continue at Monadnock Speedway with the track’s Sportsman modified division headlining the action. The Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks and Young Guns will also compete in regular feature events.
Coming in as touring series, the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lights will be in action for the annual Iron Mike Memorial. The NE Race Trucks will also invade the oval. Action begins with qualifying heats at 6 PM.
Enjoy the weekends action!
