Ryan Smith’s 2014 season ended on probably the highest of highs that it could have ended on when he picked up career win No. 1 on the World of Outlaws tour at Port Royal in October.  The Rob Warko team took that momentum and confidence and made the trek to Yuma, Arizona at the Cocopah Speedway for the Winter Heat Showdown.

Unfortunately for the team, it has been an up and down trip with far too many lows than highs.

Night No. 1 would see the 94 team lose a power plant on their first night out which didn’t kill the trip but certainly must have raised concerns within the team for the remaining 4 events on the Winter Heat Showdown schedule.  They would replace the engine and come back on night No. 2 looking for a little redemption.

They got that redemption when they qualified through the B-Main to make the feature event.  That would put ‘The Kunkletown Kid’ 19th on the starting grid for the A-Main.  Smith used a heavy right foot to power his way from a 19th place starting spot to a 6th place finish at the checkered flag, another outstanding run for Smith as he contends with the stars of the World of Outlaws and a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver in Kyle Larson, who won the event.

That picked the spirits back up for the 94 team heading into Night No. 3 on Tuesday night at Cocopah.  Unfortunately for Smith and the Warko team, they would lose yet another engine on Tuesday while Ryan was leading in his qualifying race.

This was their Kistler Engine and was their last available engine for the Winter Heat trip.  Smith was quite disappointed Tuesday night and took to Twitter and Facebook to reach out for whatever help the team might be able to get to finish out the week in Yuma.

Hopefully Ryan and his team can find the help they need to get them through the rest of the week in Yuma, Arizona.  Ryan is an extremely talented driver who has proven that he can hang with and beat the best of the best.  He will be a force to be reckoned with in Central Pennsylvania in the 2015 season.
