The 43rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler will be contested this Friday through Sunday, headlined by the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour’s 200-lap feature event.
Over the long storied history of the Sizzler, many different drivers have taken victories to open their season. The weekend gives everyone a chance to catch up with each other after a long winter, and start to tune the cars in for the long grinding season that is ahead.
This will be the 29th time that the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour headlines the Spring Sizzler weekend. There have been 15 different tour winners at the Sizzler in series history, lead by Ted Christopher’s five wins in the prestigious event. Other names that have won the event include Mike Stefanik (three times), Doug Coby (twice), and last year’s winner Bobby Santos III. Richie Evans won the inaugural Tour-sanctioned Sizzler back in 1985.
The Stafford weekly divisions will also be in action this weekend, starting their 2014 seasons. The DARE Stocks, Limited Late Models, SK Light Modifieds, Late Models and SK Modifieds will all contest qualifying and feature events during the weekend. These drivers will compete each and every week at Stafford for the season, so look out to see who is up front, they could be there often.
Practice will be held on Friday for the weekly divisions along with the North Eastern Mini Stock. On Saturday, the qualifying heat races will be contested, along with feature events for everyone except the SK Modifieds, NEMST, and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Those features will be contested on Sunday afternoon starting at 1 P.M.
