THOMPSON, Conn. —

Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Rookie of the Year Chase Dowling paced the only practice session on Wednesday at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.

Dowling toured the 5/8 mile Thompson oval with a fast time of  18.887 seconds (119.130 mph) behind the wheel of his No. 9 S&S Asphalt Paving modified. He is in search of his first career series victory tonight in the Bud King of Beers 150.

Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby was second in the session behind the wheel of his No. 2 Dunleavy Truck and Trailer Repair LFR Chassis mount. Ryan Preece returns to the series tonight and was sixth in the session, Donny Lia was seventh, with Justin Bonsignore, Rob Summers and Eric Goodale completing the top-10.

The tour returns to the track for Coors Light Pole Qualifying coming up at 7 p.m., followed by the Bud King of Beers 150 at 8 p.m.
