Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Mass., Tom Scully Jr. found himself carrying his second checkered flag of the 2015 NASCAR Whelen All American Series Pro Stock season.

Scully Jr. inherited the lead on lap 52 after Freddy Astle and Ryan Lineham made contact battling for the lead, with both ending up at the tail end of the field. He held of Ryan Vanasse and Kyle Casper on multiple late-race restarts to take the victory on Saturday evening, just before the rain came.

Six-time champion Freddy Astle and Jake Vanada brought the field to the green flag for round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series and Astle quickly was off to the races at the top. However, three caution flags flew before the first completed lap even went up on the leaderboard.

On the initial green, Angelo Belsito — the division points leader coming into the night — was involved in a heavy crash that sent him to the pit area for repairs.

Other drivers that were included in accidents on the night included David Darling, Kevin Casper, Nick Lascuola, Kenny Spencer, Mike Brightman, and Mike Sullivan.

The event took almost one hour to complete.

After Scully crossed the stripe, Vanasse edged Kyle Casper for second. Casper started 17th in the feature event and drove through lots of traffic to a top three finish.

Scully Jr. was emotional in Victory Lane, dedicating his second win of the season to his Mom, who missed Saturday night’s events.
