SEEKONK, Mass. — Story by Race Chaser Online New England Correspondent Kyle Souza —

In the past eleven years at Seekonk Speedway, modifieds have been lighting up the Action Track of the East with exciting battles for big cash prizes.

Drivers have been battling for $10,000 on a Wednesday night in the middle of the summer over the past several years, and it has drawn both the best modified drivers and teams from across the Northeast region, as well as an excellent fan base.

On Monday, the track announced that the event (titled Open Wheel Wednesday) will return in 2016, with a format much like past seasons. The Tri Track Open Modified Series will once again headline the action on Wednesday night, June 29, with a $10,000 to win open competition event that will also be a points event for the tour.

Not only will drivers be hustling around the third-mile oval for money, but multiple will be going for crucial series points towards an impressive championship payday. It always makes for an exciting battle and an extremely exciting finish to the event. In the past, names like Vinnie and Todd Annarummo, Tommy Barrett (2014) and Richard Savary (2015) have won the big event.

Not only will the modifieds be back in town, the NEMA Midgets will also be touring the oval for their annual Boston Louie Seymour Memorial Classic. Both the NEMA Midgets and the NEMA Lites are scheduled to be in action for two 29-lap events. Randy Cabral has been a dominant force for the Midgets when they invade the Cement Palace in the past and surely will be a factor if he files an entry again in 2016.
