The Australian rookie was fastest in both NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Bully Hill Vineyards 125 practice sessions on Friday. He recorded a fast lap of 73.282 seconds (120.357 mph) in the final practice session of the day. Kostecki’s lap was .941 seconds ahead of the series qualifying record, set in 2008 by Antonio Perez.
Cameron Hayley was second quick at 73.665 seconds (119.731 mph) in the final practice session. Cole Custer’s fast lap of 73.888 seconds (119.370) in the first practice was the third overal fastest of the day, followed by Scott Heckert and Daniel Suarez.
Jesse Little, Kaz Grala, Grey Gaulding, Andrew Ranger and Sergio Pena rounded out the top 10 drivers from the two practice sessions.
Qualifying for the Bully Hill Vineyards 125 is scheduled for 3:40 p.m. ET with the race at 6:15 p.m.
