WOODHULL, NY — official release — Audio by Paul Harkenrider and Steven Ovens — Woodhull Raceway photo — It was a historic evening for five ‘fan’tastic main events to hit the one-third mile racing stage in Woodhull, New York as feature checkers went to Stacey Jackson, Brett Marlatt, Nate Freeland, Kieth Shay, and John Waters.
After nine qualifying heats, it was ready to begin the five main event features, kicking things off were the Crate Sportsman and picking up the win was Stacey Jackson, driving the Tim Guild owned #S1. Jackson was able to lead all 25 laps and pick up his second feature win in 2014, his first in a sportsman after having a solid season in a modified. Ron White scored a season high, second place finish, Mike Jackson, Russ Morseman, and Chris Fisher completed the top five.

In the second annual Joe Willcox Open, it was Brett “The Jet” Marlatt picking up the win in the 50 lap Street Stock event. Gene Balmer ignited the 19 car field to the green which saw multiple lead changes between himself, Jeremy Potrzebowski, and Kurt Stebbins before Potrzebowski and a number of cars were involved in a heroic caution on about lap 30. Then on lap 35, Balmer and Stebbins got themselves involved in a caution that also collected a batch of cars and the first car heading out of turn 4 was Brett Marlatt. The 2014 Track champion was able to pull away from the remainder of the field and able to add another tally in the win column. Teddy Morseman finished in a close second, followed by Kurt Stebbins, Tim Gullo, and Jeredd Dennis.

Nate Freeland, picked up his first ever feature win of his career after coming so close so many times as he was able to hold off Adam Delgrosso, who finished in second, followed by Jaye McConnell, Carl LeBarron, and Joe Birdsall.
Then the final event of the evening — the 145th and final BRP CanAm 360 Late Model Series event — took to the track as 22 cars were ready to put on a show for the fans. The field was led by John Waters and Jason McGregor. Numerous cautions occurred throughout the entire 50 lap event. Glenn Writenour gave Waters a run for his a money a number of times but could once a good run off the corners happened, a caution flag came out which gave Bruce Miller a shot at the top spot, Miller at one point had the slight edge on Waters before another caution came out. Waters would have a solid restart which resulted in him coming home with the win. Mikey Wonderling would finish the season as the Series champion, the first of his career.
Next week is the 5th annual Bull Ring Challenge presented by Costy Energy Services, and Maple City Dodge. It is a two night special as the GRIT Sportman Series will highlight the Friday night show, and the Saturday night show, the RUSH Crate Late Models will be in action as a 50 lap, $3000 to win for the Big Block/ Small Block Modifieds.
