KIRKWOOD, NY — Story and Audio by Race Chaser Online New York Correspondent Steven Ovens — Photos By Five Mile Point Speedway — This week is certainly big for NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week fans and drivers.  But this weekend is also big for racers in the Southern Tier of New York State as this weekend will kick off American Racer Cup Weekend at the Five Mile Point Speedway.

The American Racer Cup is a points system designed to put Dirt Modified and Dirt Sportsman teams in a points battle where they use their best 12 feature finishes from their home track.  It all culminates this weekend with a special dash for each division and Five Mile Point Speedway’s Andrew Harpell joined us on the Race Chaser Hotline to tell us more about the American Racer Cup Weekend events.

There are events Friday night, Saturday afternoon in a matinee-style format as well as capping off the weekend with a big Saturday night show.  There is a chicken barbecue Saturday afternoon to make this not only a race weekend, but a big event at Five Mile Point.  Fans are even allowed to roam freely back to their vehicles during the event if they so wish and kids age 12 and under are free.

We also were able to touch on the last weekend of racing at ‘The Point’ coming up on Halloween Weekend- Friday October 31st and Saturday November 1st.  That will feature the Southern Tier 100 for the Dirt Modifieds on Saturday night and will be a big event touting cars from New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and areas further away on the map.

It will be a big weekend at the Five Mile Point Speedway and Andrew Harpell tells us more about this weekend’s events:
