Baldwinsville, N.Y. – For 16-year-old Sprint Car racer Joe Trenca, last Tuesday night was definitely an attention-getter.  The Mucci Motorsports Team had worked all season to find the setup that the “Salt City Flyer” was looking for in his No. 98 and they finally had it for the feature event.  Starting mid-pack, Joe had charged his way by several cars in the first six laps and was full throttle off turn four when, in a tempest of blind fury…

It happened.

Tony Stewart and another car made contact at the front of the field and triggered an explosive chain-reaction crash that involved half the field and sent several cars airborne and colliding into each other with brute force.

Joe had a most unintended brush with greatness…he slammed into Tony Stewart with no time to hit the brakes and no place else to go.

He called the aftermath “A graveyard of cars.”

Joe talked with RCO Editor-In-Chief Tom Baker late last night about the crash, his injuries, safety and his season so far.
