The Lionheart IndyCar Series presented by Overdrive Graphics and Sim Posters heads to the 1.5-mile Kansas Motor Speedway for the Hollywood Casino 150 on Wednesday night, broadcast live on the Global SimRacing Channel.

From 2001 until 2010, the real-life IndyCar Series ran a 300-mile race at the track with Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon both winning 2 races. Other race winners include Eddie Cheever Jr, Airton Dare, Bryan Herta, Buddy Rice, Tony Kanaan, and Sam Hornish Jr.

Practice has been busy all week, with 17 drivers participating in Tuesday night’s final practice race. As driver’s found out with Joe Hassert’s practice race win last night, pit strategy will be critical. Last night’s race featured just three cautions, and ended with only 9 cars on the lead lap.

Finishing second after qualifying on the pole was Dan Geren, followed by his Team #nailedit teammate Jesse Vincent. All three are sure to be drivers to watch in this week’s race.

Here are some of the other top contenders heading into Tornado Alley:

Jake Wright

In Wright’s first series start at Pocono, he qualified on the outside pole. After missing last week’s race at Gateway, Wright has been back near the top of the speed charts this week. As long as he can stay out of trouble, Wright should be in the hunt in the later part of the race.

Pierre Daigle

Daigle finished a disappointing fifth in last night’s practice race, although he was able to move up three positions from his eighth starting spot. Each week, Daigle shows the ability to contend, but he just has not been able to put together a complete race as of yet.

Trevor Malone

Malone will be looking to rebound from last week’s disappointing 17th place finish this week at Kansas. In last night’s practice race, he finished fourth and posted the fastest lap of anyone who finished on the lead lap.

Sleeper Pick: Michael Gray

Currently fifth in points, Gray has quietly found himself just 52 points back from the final podium spot. He is riding a wave of momentum, having finished fourth last week at Gateway. Could the Aussie find himself in victory lane in Kansas?

The Hollywood Casino 150 goes green tonight at 9:35 p.m. Central on the Global SimRacing Channel.
