MOORESVILLE, N.C. — official release — TSM photo — Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) announced today that Ben Rhodes will pilot the No. 41 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevy in the upcoming ARCA Racing Series event at Kentucky Speedway on September 19.
The race will mark a homecoming for the Louisville, Kentucky native, as it will be the first time the 17-year-old will compete at his home track.
Rhodes currently competes full time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) for TSM and this past weekend officially clinched the 2014 NKNPSE championship. The championship is the first for Rhodes in a NASCAR series.
Rhodes and the NKNPSE No. 41 team compiled five wins, six poles and 11 top-five finishes en route to clinching the 2014 NKNPSE Championship with one race to go in the season.
Rhodes made his TSM debut last year by running a partial NKNPSE schedule, claiming two top five and five top-10 finishes in seven starts. Rhodes was also selected as a member of the 2013 and 2014 NASCAR Next classes, a select group chosen by the sanctioning body that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars with the most NASCAR Sprint Cup Series potential.
“I don’t think it’s sunk in yet that I finally get to race at Kentucky Speedway,” said Rhodes. “I think racing at my home track for the first time is going to be quite the experience for me. I know a lot of my friends and family are going to be in attendance and it will be the first time I’ll be able to race on a 1.5-mile racetrack. Hopefully we can keep the car clean and have an opportunity to challenge for the win in the Alpha Energy Solutions Chevy.”
Rhodes will have his TSM NKNPSE team backing him at Kentucky Speedway, with crew chief Mark McFarland calling the shots atop the pit box.
