Pennink Snags First-Career Tour Pole At Thompson

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Rowan Pennink scored his first career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour pole on Wednesday night at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.

Pennink posted a fast time of 18.697 seconds behind the wheel of his No. 3 Cape Cod Copper/USNE Chevrolet on the 0.625-mile high-banked oval. He enters the Bud 150 just seven points off the lead in the championship standings with eight races remaining.

Behind Pennink, points leader Timmy Solomito posted the second fastest time with a lap of 18.739 seconds behind the wheel of his No. 16 Starrett Tools Ford. Solomito will join Pennink on the front row for the green flag.

Ryan Preece, the most recent series winner, was third in the session with a time of 18.749 seconds. Jon McKennedy and Ted Christopher rounded out the top five.

Andrew Krause posted the sixth fastest time, while four-time series champion Doug Coby slotted in seventh position. Bobby Santos, Chase Dowling and Max Zachem completed the top 10 in the qualifying order.

The green flag for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Bud 150 drops shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Thompson.
