TOOELE, Utah – Noah Gragson made a big move on Todd Gilliland on the last lap of Sunday’s UMC 110 presented by Ken Garff Volvo, ultimately winning to complete a sweep of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West’s doubleheader weekend at Utah Motorsports Campus.
It was Gragson’s second win in as many days, as the Las Vegas driver won Saturday’s race on the 3.048-mile road course.
The races marked the first time the series ran a doubleheader on back-to-back days at the same venue, and Gragson made the most of the historic weekend.
Gragson powered his No. 7 SPEEDVEGAS/AlertID/Colliers International Ford through the field after dropping from third to 12th to avoid an incident midway through the race. After charging his way back into the top three, the 17-year-old NASCAR Next driver used his winning strategy from Saturday – conserving his tires and waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Gragson’s window opened when he was able to get by Ryan Partridge in the turns with seven laps remaining. For the next six laps, he stared down Gilliland’s bumper waiting for the opportunity to take the lead. Gragson made the bump-and-run on his fellow NASCAR Next driver on the final lap to grab the checkered flag for the second time.
Gilliland and Partridge finished second and third, respectively, while Gilliland’s Bill McAnally Racing teammate Riley Herbst and K&N Pro Series West veteran Todd Souza rounded out the top five.
Gragson’s weekend sweep moved him third in the standings, where he trails Gilliland by 37 points. Partridge sits just 13 points back of Gilliland with two races remaining.
