NMTS: Vences Doubles Up; Scores Second Consecutive NMTS Pole Ahead Of Chihuahua 240

CHIHUAHUA, Mexico –– By John Tejada, NASCAR — Irwin Vences is hoping history repeats itself in the NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series.

Three weeks after winning his first career series pole, Vences was the fastest qualifier once again, turning in a fast lap of 19.758 seconds (113.878 mph) around the .625-mile oval at El Dorado Speedway in Chihuahua. The last time Vences started a race on the pole he went on to lead every lap en route to his first victory of the season and a berth in the Toyota Series Desafio.

NASCAR Next driver Rubén Garcia Jr. will join Vences on the front row after posting a qualifying lap of 19.767 seconds, good for 113.826 mph. Javier Razo and José Luis Ramírez will start on the second row, followed by Abraham Calderón and Hugo Oliveras. Rubén Rovelo, Daniel Suárez, Luis Felipe Montaño and Rubén Pardo completed the top 10.

The beginning of qualifying was delayed due to weather.

Green flag for the Chihuahua 240 is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. ET.
