NEWTON, Iowa — Christopher Bell was quickest Friday morning at Iowa Speedway in the same truck Erik Jones took to victory lane there in 2015.

Bell laid down a lap of 23.289 seconds (135.237 mph) around the .875-mile track during a mock-qualifying run in his No. 4 Toyota Tundra. The Kyle Busch Motorsports driver made his Truck Series debut at Iowa in 2015 while filling in for Matt Tifft and scoring a fifth-place finish in his first-ever start.

Gateway pole-sitter Chase Briscoe turned the second-fastest speed (134.881 mph) after two straight runner-up finishes in as many weeks. Briscoe won last July’s ARCA Racing Series event at Iowa Speedway as part of winning four straight races en route to the championship.

Jesse Little makes his Truck return since Dover and was third quick (134.857 mph). Little scored the K&N East portion of the victory in the K&N combo race a few years ago and qualified a strong fifth last time out at Dover. Gateway winner John Hunter Nemechek slotted in fourth (134.495 mph) while Cody Coughlin (fifth) was fastest among the ThorSport trucks, completing the top-five.

26 of the 33 trucks entered in Friday night’s race ran a lap in the session as a busy day for the Trucks continue with final practice scheduled to roll off at noon ET (FS1).
