INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.–Verizon IndyCar Series driver James Hinchcliffe will get behind the wheel of an INDYCAR Experience two-seater Indy car on Friday to take his “Dancing with the Stars” partner, Sharna Burgess, for a spin around his “dance floor” – with a ride at race speeds around Sonoma Raceway. The Northern California road course is where Hinchcliffe will compete in the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, which starts at 3:50 p.m. PT Sunday, Sept. 18 and airs on NBCSN.

With just eight days of rehearsal, Burgess, a professional dancer and choreographer, and Hinchcliffe wowed TV viewers and impressed judges with their foxtrot Monday in the Season 23 opener of “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC. Their efforts earned three ratings of “8” and another of “7” on a 10-point scale for a sum of 31 – tying them for the high score of the night.

Burgess is traveling to Sonoma today for a private rehearsal with Hinchcliffe, as they prepare to perform for the second time on the next live episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” at 8 p.m. ET Sept. 19 on ABC. Friday, she will get a first-hand experience with Hinchcliffe’s sport when she straps into the passenger seat of the Indy car two-seater and he takes her for the once-in-a-lifetime thrill ride.
