Larson Marks Racing will return to the desert for the second annual Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown at Cocopah Speedway in Yuma, Ariz., with regular driver Shane Stewart at the wheel.

The team won the second of five nights in the inaugural event with team co-owner Kyle Larson driving. This year, the team will have its full-time driver and 2015 World of Outlaws runner-up Shane Stewart behind the wheel.

Stewart missed the 2015 Winter Heat series to stay home with his newborn daughter, Nixon. Larson, co-owner of Larson Marks Racing, took over the reins and posted a win and a top-10 before missing the final weekend of action to test for the Rolex 24 at Daytona Int’l Speedway.

“No driver likes missing a race, especially multiple races, but Nixon was a pretty good reason to,” Stewart said. “I kept up with what was going on out there and saw what great races they put on. I’m anxious to get there with this team and get some laps under our belt before the season officially starts in Florida.  Hopefully we learn a few things to make our second World of Outlaws season even better.”

Stewart and the Larson Marks Racing team earned 11 feature wins in 2015 including both nights of the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, the Ironman 55 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., and the Capitani Classic and Knoxville Nationals preliminary night at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway. The team will return to the World of Outlaws tour in 2016 after finishing second in points in their first full season on the tour.

“Larson Marks Racing is a team of racers. Every member of this organization is happier at the track than in the shop, so we’re all excited to get the 2016 season started as early as possible,” said team co-owner Justin Marks. “Cocopah Speedway put on a great Winter Heat event in 2015 and we’re looking forward to being a part of it again next month. Nothing can prepare you better than being in the actual race environment, so getting that experience before heading to Volusia (Raceway Park) is an opportunity to make ourselves better that we didn’t want to miss.”

Larson will return to Winter Heat as well, driving for Paul Silva, against the Larson Marks Racing team which he co-owns.

“Racing against Kyle is always fun,” Stewart said. “He’s a great part of this team and I’m sure he’ll be at our pit talking to us about set ups and working with us. We’re not competitive until we’re on the track. I’ve got to make sure to take this LMR car back to victory lane this year.”
