NCATS PRACTICE: Camirand Ahead Of The Curve(s); Quebec Driver Dominates Both Canadian Tire Sessions at GP3R

Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, CA – By Tom Bryant, NASCAR — Matthew Murnaghan/NASCAR photo — Marc-Antoine Camarind hails from Saint-Leonard-d’Aston, a small town south of the Saint-Laurenet River roughly 30 minutes’ drive from Trois Rivieres.

Judging from his performance in both practice sessions for the Le 50 Tours, he has made more than a few visits to the streets hosting this weekend’s race.

Camirand drove the No. 88 Archibald / VOODOO Paint Ball car to a fast lap of 1 minute, 6.787 seconds (82.471 mph) to lead the final practice session, topping his first session quick lap of 1:07.604 / 81.474 mph.

Andrew Ranger was second in both sessions, posting a 1:07.068 (82.126) fast lap in the final session.  Ranger, driving the No. 27 Mopar / Exide Dodge, finished second in Friday’s NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Bully Hill Vineyards 125 at Watkins Glen International.

Local favorite and current championship points leader L.P. Dumoulin was third fastest in the final session, turning a 1:07.374 (81.753) lap.  Jacques Villeneuve was fourth and Alex Tagliani fifth fastest.

Jason Hathaway, Kerry Micks, D.J. Kennington, Scott Steckly, and Elie Arseneau rounded out the top ten.

Group qualifying for the Le 50 Tours is set to begin at 5 p.m. ET Saturday, with the race scheduled for a green flag Sundday at 3:30 pm.
