Merritt Speedway announced on Tuesday that Matt Kenseth will participate in the inaugural Merritt Summer Showdown presented by Don’s Auto Clinic on June 10.

The two-time Daytona 500 winner and 2003 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion will take part in festivities leading up to the night’s race action.

Kenseth will be involved in a private meet-and-greet, which will include a question-and-answer session and dinner. A limited number of tickets for the private meet-and-greet will be available for purchase soon, and is open to the public.

“We are proud to have Matt Kenseth join this already prestigious event, and will elevate the program that much more,” said track owner and promoter Mike Blackmer. “I have worked with the Kenseths for several years now, and I am thankful that Matt will be part of this show. We are hopeful that this will be one of the speedway’s largest events in its prestigious history.”

The inaugural Merritt Summer Showdown presented by Don’s Auto Clinic will also feature two of the biggest names on dirt. Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader will both race in the Wednesday night special, as will Kenseth’s son, Ross Kenseth.

The new American Ethanol Late Model Tour has officially reached an agreement with Merritt Speedway, to be the sanctioning series for the June 10 Late Model portion of the event. The touring series will bring even more stars to the three-eighths mile racetrack, as well as higher payout.

The Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup Modified Tour will sanction the Modified racing action on Wednesday night, June 10th, with $2,000-to-win and $225-to-start.

Opening night for Merritt Speedway is May 16, featuring racing action in seven different divisions.
