April 25, 2014 — By Shon Sbarra, NASCAR — Getty Images for NASCAR photo — RICHMOND, Va. – Austin Hill was fastest in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East final practice for the Blue Ox 100 on Friday at Richmond International Raceway.
Hill, a 20-year-old out of Winston, Ga., made his way around the .75-mile Virginia track in 22.293 seconds for an average speed of 121.114 mph. Hill ranks 10th in the championship standings and has a pair of top-five finishes in four starts this season.
Points leader Ben Rhodes was second with a time of 22.311 seconds (121.017 mph). The 17-year-old has won the last three series pole positions.
Cole Custer was third on the chart at 22.485 seconds (120.080 mph) followed by Chad Finley, who is attempting to make his series debut, with a time of 22.558 seconds (119.691 mph) and Cameron Hayley at 22.564 mph (119.660 mph) in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Scott Heckert, David Garbo Jr., Jay Beasley, Josh Berry and Nick Drake completed the top-10 drivers of the 50-minute session.
Qualifying is scheduled for 2:05 p.m ET and the Blue Ox 100 is slated to get underway at approximately 9:30 p.m. following the NASCAR Nationwide Series event.
