As he prepares to head to New Smyrna Speedway for the 52nd annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, Super Late Model driver Derek Griffith has plenty of momentum on his side. The Hudson driver is coming off a second-place finish in the Red Eye 100 at New Smyrna on January 6, a race that opened the 2018 NASCAR Whelen All American Series season. The runner-up finish was his best career at the 0.500-mile Florida oval.

Just under five months before the drop of the first green flag, the 2018 Seekonk Sports Trucks season is already setting up to be a tight battle for the championship. In 2017, Mike Duarte stormed onto the scene at the 0.333-mile oval, winning just one feature, but capturing his first track championship behind the wheel of the No. 50. The Dighton, Mass. driver scored top five finishes in all but five races, which was the best among all drivers. He celebrated his title in November at the Venus De Milo.

Seekonk Speedway is ready to roll for its 73rd season and they are excited to be able to showcase their NASCAR Saturday Night divisions with increased laps and higher purses for much of the season. In 2018, the NASCAR Saturday Nights start on their traditional first weekend in May kicking off the season on May 6 with the Annual Classic Car Show on May 5. The season will run through September 22 with a few scheduled weekends off.
