Salem100TOLEDO, Ohio – Every ARCA race at Salem Speedway is a celebration of past and present, but there will be none more so that fit that bill than when the Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic presented by Meadow View/Salem Crossing takes off under the lights on Sept. 10.

The historic event marks the 100th ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race at Salem since the tour debuted on the legendary high-banked, half-mile track in 1955. In fact, no track has appeared more on ARCA’s schedule over the tour’s 64-year history than Salem.

“The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has raced more at Salem than anywhere, going back, nearly, to the inaugural season,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “When you consider all the changes in the sport since we started racing at Salem in 1955, and all the changes in the world, it’s incredible that we’re still driving back to that same spot on Highway 56, to that same track that still puts on some of the best short track racing in America. We’re very proud of our connection to Salem Speedway, and we’re grateful for all the fans that come out to see our races there. When you crest that bend on 56 and look out at that campground full of race fans, you know you’re headed to a happening event.”

A full weekend of activities, including a golf scramble, parade of haulers, Friday night Fan Fest with live music and much more are all part of the much-anticipated celebration for ARCA’s centennial race at the Salem high banks.

In addition, several stars and cars from the past are invited out for the two-day celebration to include past Salem ARCA winners and local stars. Several restored ARCA stock cars depictive of the eras at Salem will be on display.

The field for the 100th race at Salem will also be sprinkled with cars utilizing throwback paint schemes going fender-to-fender with the rest over the 200-lap race.
