ATTICA, Ohio — Sammy Swindell will return to Pennsylvania this weekend in search of the mammoth $50,000 payday on offer for Saturday night’s 50th running of the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway.
Swindell will drive for Coldren Motorsports on Friday and Saturday at the half-mile oval in Port Royal during the 50-lap event sanctioned by the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
Swindell spent a weekend racing with the team in Central Pennsylvania last month, earning a runner-up finish as the highlight to a four-race stint.
The former three-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion enters Port Royal this weekend having scored one win, four podiums and five top-10s in seven All Star starts this season.
“We’ve had some really good runs,” he said. “If everything plays into our hand I think we have a chance to win this weekend.”
The 61-year-old National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee has won three races this season, including a $10,000-to-win All Star event at New York’s Orange County Fair Speedway.
Swindell heads to Port Royal Speedway this weekend seeking his first career win at the track.
