Though the championship is Chase Elliott’s to lose, the rest of the final positions are very much in flux. The series heads west to Phoenix International Raceway where Regan Smith’s second-place position in the series standings is susceptible to challenge by third-place Brian Scott (-15 behind Smith), fourth-place Elliott Sadler (-20) and fifth-place Ty Dillon (-27).

At the final two tracks, Dillon has the best average finish of the four drivers with a 12.0; followed by Sadler (15.5), Scott (15.6), with Smith bringing up the rear with a 19.1.

When the series went to Phoenix earlier this season three of these four drivers finished in the top 10, with Sadler claiming the best finish of the four at sixth-place; followed by Smith (eighth) and Dillon (10th). Scott finished 11th.

If Smith can hold on to second-place in the points, it will be his best series career standings finish – his previous best was third last season. He has posted one win, seven top fives and 24 top 10s this season.

Scott also is battling for his career best standings finish these last two weeks (his previous best was seventh last season). Scott has posted six top fives and 21 top 10s in 2014.
