April 29, 2014 — LAS VEGAS, NV — Two nights of INEX Legends racing action at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s “Bullring” produced two outstanding second place finishes for local rising star Peyton Saxton.
Saxton, a 15-year-old in only his third full season of racing (and first in the Pro division), finished behind his teammate Jason Irwin on Friday and then fought valiantly to get by Zane Smith on Saturday but fell just a bit short at the checkers.
Peyton had a good weekend as a mechanic, however, as his Third Gen Racing team finished 1-2-3 on Friday (Jason Irwin, Peyton and Bryan Grandin) and then Irwin was third on Saturday with Jordan Dean finishing fourth. Grandin had a top five run going but a broken muffler forced him out and he wound up with a 12th place finish.
“All in all this was another really strong weekend for Third Gen Racing,” Peyton said. “I made some changes on my car between Friday and Saturday just trying to find a tenth or two and we did make some progress but the car was really loose when I got back to the gas coming off the corners so I couldn’t quite get the run I needed to challenge Zane.”
“We’re getting closer. Definitely happy for Jason, Jordan and Bryan as they all had strong runs at least one of the two nights. If Bryan hadn’t had the muffler fall off we’d have had four cars in the top five on Saturday. That would have been really cool. They’re all good teammates and I enjoy working with them.”
