May 3, 2014 — By Jason Christley, NASCAR — Getty Images for NASCAR photo — STOCKTON, Calif. — David Mayhew earned his ninth career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Coors Light Pole Award — and first since 2012 — with a fast lap at Stockton 99 Speedway Saturday evening in qualifying for the night’s Stockton 150.
Mayhew posted a lap of 13.836 seconds (65.048 mph) around the historic quarter-mile Northern California track.
Rookie James Bickford, who had the best lap in the afternoon’s practice, qualified second at 13.839 (65.034), followed by Greg Pursley at 13.844 (65.010).
Dylan Lupton and Brandon McReynolds qualified fourth and fifth, respectively.
Giles Thornton was sixth in qualifying, followed by Taylor Cuzick, rookie Luis Tyrrell, Thomas Martin and Anthony Giannone.
The Stockton 150 is scheduled to take the green flag at 8:30 p.m. PT.
