Sunlight gave way to headlights Thursday evening in the third TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practice session for Saturday’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida.
The one hour, 30 minute night practice session was led by Olivier Pla in the No. 57 Krohn Racing Ligier JS P2/Judd with a lap 1:51.973. It was the second straight session led by Pla and the fastest lap of the day.
Rolex 24 At Daytona winners Corvette Racing took the top two spots in the GTLM class, with Ryan Briscoe’s No. 3 Corvette C7.R leading the No. 4 entry of Tommy Milner with a lap of 1:59.313.
Porsches took the top two sports in GTD with Mario Farnbacher leading the way, 2:03.159, in Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing’s No. 23 Porsche 911 GT America. Tom Kimber-Smith led the PC class at 1:56.465 in PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA FLM09.
The session was stopped three times for incidents on track. Tomy Drissi made slight contact with the barrier between turns 14 and 15 in the No. 16 BAR1 Motorsports ORECA FLM09 early in the session, while Ozz Negri could not get his No. 60 Ligier JS P2/Honda re-fired after a spin in Turn 3. The final stoppage came with 20 minutes remaining when the No. 58 Porsche 911 GT America of Jan Heylen made contact with the barrier in Turn 6.
