January 20, 2014 — PRR photo — CONCORD, N.C. — Five 4 Motorsports, in partnership with Daniel Hemric, has announced an eight-race agreement with young driver Payton Ryan.

Ryan will drive the No. 54 Chevrolet in pro late model division races at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Ga., and New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Ryan’s debut with the team will come at SpeedFest 2014, which will be held Jan. 25-26 at the Watermelon Capital Speedway. The 125 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance pro late model race is a non-points event.  A month later, Ryan will compete at the 48th Annual World Series of Stock Car Racing with Five 4 Motorsports at New Smyrna Speedway for seven nights of competition. The annual event will bring the best of the best from across the country to contend for the week-long championships.

“I have known the Ryans for a while,” team owner Hoyt Demis said. “I have known Payton’s father, Jackie, for years. We raced against each other in Monroe (Louisiana) when I was on the national Legends scene, so this has been a long-standing relationship. They wanted to try something different as Payton continues to progress and we were in a good position to bring them on to our team.

“I am very honored and excited to have the opportunity to work with Payton.”

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) driver Daniel Hemric has mentored Ryan in the past and is now furthering the mentorship with Ryan and Demis with Five 4 Motorsports for the selected eight-race schedule, and thinks the collaboration will prove to be a winning combination.

“We feel that Payton has a lot of talent, and has definitively shown his ability to win races,” Hemric said. “Over the past three or four years I have been able to see his progression as a driver, so we are happy to help in the continued evolution of Payton’s career.”

Five 4 Motorsports is another opportunity to establish Ryan’s rise in the motorsports ranks.

“I am excited to go drive for Five 4 Motorsports and continue to work with Daniel. I look forward to the opportunity to learn from his coaching and experience in a Late Model,” the 15-year-old driver said. “This is the next step in my career.
