LAKE CITY, FL – official team release – Devin Walker and his team have been steadily getting their late model dialed in and inching up toward the front in the United Dirt Late Model Series this season.
Last weekend, what could have been a top five finish at North Florida Speedway for the rising Florida racing star was quelled by overheating issues that sent him to the pits with 13 laps left while running 8th. This, after he started 20th and put on quite a show.
He was still moving forward when he noticed the temperature running hot and pulled off to save further damage to the motor.
Ever the optimist, Devin found the positive in a disappointing outcome.
“The car was really hooked up today,” he said. “We’re getting really close on the setup now. We were able to pass a lot of cars on the top. I believe we would have had a top five today or maybe better, but we’ll change the radiator out and get ready for this weekend. I feel a win is very close now.”
The next race for the team will be at a new track for Devin, Putnam County Speedway in Satsuma, Florida.
“We’re looking forward to going to Putnam for their big money show this weekend. I haven’t been there. They’ve opened it back up this year and we decided to go and check it out.”
