NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman —

Due to rain in the area and showers being expected to continue through the night, New Smyrna Speedway officials announced just after 2 p.m. local time that Tuesday night’s scheduled action at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing has been postponed.

The rainout marks the first time since the 2012 World Series that a night of action has been rescheduled by Mother Nature.

The night’s program was set to include the Pro and Super Late Models, as well as the 100-lap conclusion of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) American Racer Challenge Cup.

ACT officials held a poll of their race teams in attendance and with most being willing to stick out the weather, the ACT American Racer Challenge Cup finale will now take the green flag Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.

Eddie MacDonald swept the first two ACT events at New Smyrna Speedway and will look for his third consecutive victory Wednesday night. A total of 21 cars are expected for the Smyrna finale.

In addition, the Pro and Super Late Models will both conduct twin 35-lap features on Wednesday, along with a 75-lap main for the Florida Modifieds and the John Blewett III Memorial 76 for the Tour-type Modifieds.

Practice begins on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Eastern time, with racing scheduled to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. Eastern time on www.fanschoice.tv.
