NSCS: Gaughan Lands Full-Time Sprint Cup Series Ride With Premium Motorsports

Premium Motorsports announced on Tuesday that Brendan Gaughan will driving the teams’ No. 62 entry full-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series beginning at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 1 for The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.

The team previously announced that Richard Childress Racing’s Brian Scott would be behind the wheel of the No. 62 for the season-opening Daytona 500.

Gaughan has a combined total of 343 starts in NASCAR’s top three series with a total of 97 top 10 finishes, and will also compete in the full NASCAR XFINITY Series schedule for Richard Childress Racing. He won two XFINITY Series races in 2014..

Veteran crew chief, Zach McGowan, who came over to Premium in a deal that saw the team acquire the owner points from Tommy Baldwin Racing’s No. 36 team, will serve as crew chief for the No. 62 team.

“We are very excited to have Brendan drive for our team this year,” Premium Motorsports Managing Member Jay Robinson said. “He has a wealth of experience and I consider him to be the perfect driver to build this team around.”

Premium Motorsports will be making sponsorship announcements for the No. 62 team as the season progresses.
