Ocala, FL – Florida racing talent Devin Walker continues to show why some of the sport’s insiders are keeping an eye on him. On Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park he finished third with his stock car and finished fourth in the Tom Sheehan owned Crate Late Model in his first ever race in the car!
The 16-year-old continues to turn heads with his skill behind the wheel of virtually anything he races on the dirt tracks of the Sunshine State. With a handful of wins already under his belt this year, Devin says Saturday night was both a fun time and a learning experience.
“We had a good run with the stock car,” the racer said. “Brian Morgan was strong all night. I knew winning the feature was going to be tough. We started sixth and I knew I had to be aggressive and move quickly. About 9 or 10 laps in I was three-wide with Brian and Mike Stalnaker for second until Brian got us both. He went on to win and my car was spinning the tires toward the end off the corner so Mike beat us out for second. It was a fun race!”
As for the Late Model, Devin was all smiles with his fourth place finish. “I can’t thank Tom Sheehan enough for letting me race his car. It’s definitely different in terms of having the four-link suspension and in how it drives and handles. We started fourth. We had a bit of a push in the car and then it went to being loose. Once we get it set up a little better it should be fast. Thank God for safe racing and my team and sponsors for making it possible!”
