“I can’t thank everyone at MMM enough for giving me a great car at Mobile. For us to come out and finish third in our second race together as a team is huge. We keep knocking on the door of getting to victory lane, we will end up getting that win very soon.”

Mitchell qualified the No. 98 Thermal Technology Services Inc. Ford Fusion in the second position Friday evening in qualifying to earn ten bonus points toward the championship.

When the green flag waved on the third annual ARCA Mobile 200 Mitchell quickly settled in the third position, but the yellow flag would quickly follow. Mitchell fell back to the 7th position battling a loose racecar before the day’s first pit-stop at lap 63.

Mitchell would drive the No. 98 Ford back into the top-five when the caution flew at lap 133. Veteran crew chief Brad Parrott opted to leave Mitchell on the racetrack which would give the sophomore driver the lead for the restart.

After the restart Mitchell quickly fell back to the 11th position before the caution waved at lap 151 which allowed the 19-year-old to come to pit road for his final stop of the day.

In the last 50 laps Mitchell would drive from the 11th position to as high as second before a green-white-checkered finish left Mitchell on the outside for the restart. The Iowa native would fall back to the third position to earn his 11th straight top-ten finish and first top-five as an owner/driver.

“Brad Parrott made an excellent pit-call which allowed us to have fresher tires than everyone else at the end of the race. We were able to drive from eleventh to second before the final restart. We had a different gear ratio going from second to third gear which hurt us all afternoon but we were able to fight back for third and almost take second at the finish.”

The 200 lap event was slowed by 11 cautions Saturday afternoon. With his third place finish Saturday afternoon Mitchell’s top-ten streak is now at 11 in a row dating back to last August at Pocono Raceway.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will be back in action April 27th at the Salem Speedway for the Federated Auto Parts ARCA 200.
