With all the racing this weekend across the New England racing scene, there is no reason why fans shouldn’t be out at the track.
The Valenti Modified Racing Series visits Speedway 51 for their debut, the PASS/ACT combine for a doubleheader at Thunder Road and there’s much, much more going on around the New England racing scene.
Find out everything below, in this weeks edition of “The Week Ahead” on Race Chaser Online.
Valenti Modified Racing Series Visits Groveton
For the first time in series history, the Valenti Modified Racing Series (VMRS) will visit Groveton, New Hampshire’s Speedway 51. The track has been newly renovated and the grandstands should be packed for the series debut. VMRS ran last Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway, where Rowan Pennink drove the Gary Casella owned No. 25 into victory circle.
“One of the things I like about this series is like last year for me going to Claremont and Beech Ridge was a neat challenge just like this will be,” defending series champion Woody Pitkat said in a series release.
It will be the season-opener for the regular track divisions as well, all presented by NAPA Auto Parts. The Late Models, Street Stocks, Tigers Sportsman and Dare Devils will all compete in qualifying and feature racing.
Those qualifying rounds go green just after 5:45 p.m., with the feature racing to follow. The VMRS is last on the feature card.
PASS Thriller at Thunder Road
Thunder Road Speedbowl will be the site this weekend for full-fendered New England race fans. The Pro All Star Series (PASS) North will be on site for the Memorial Day Classic. Entries included for the weekend include Derek Ramstrom, Mike and Ben Rowe and many others.
Qualifying racing gets underway at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday since there is a lot of racing on the card.
Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Round 1 at Seekonk
The Seekonk Sports Trucks will kickoff the 2016 Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday night. The 30 lap feature event with extra distance and double points on the line is the first in a three-race series sponsored by Phil Viverios and his team at Phil’s Propane in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Series points leader Mike Cavallaro will search his third victory and second straight.
In the Division I NASCAR Pro Stocks, Tom Scully Jr. comes into the weekend leading Fred Astle Jr. in the point standings. Both drivers will look for glory in the 40 lap feature event that will be last on the feature card. The Division II Late Models return after a week off for a 30 lap feature event and the Division III Street Stocks will run another 25 lap feature.
Qualifying action begins at 6 p.m., with feature racing to immediately follow. The Trucks, Late Models, Street Stocks and Pro Stocks will visit the track in that order for all heat and feature racing.
NEMA Visits Riverhead; Justin Bonsignore On NEMA Roster
The NEMA Midgets will run the Allan Cantor Memorial for both the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites on Saturday night at the famed 1/4 Riverhead Raceway in New York. In the feature event for the NEMA, Justin Bonsignore will make his series debut by getting behind the wheel of the Bertrand Motorsports No. 74.
Bonsignore is no stranger to victory lane at Riverhead — since he has won the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events there before with his SPAFCO modified. Currently leading the NEMA point standings is Avery Stoehr and behind her is John Zych.
Also in attendance will be the regular divisions of Riverhead. The INEX Legends, Crate Modifieds & Tour Modifieds will all contest in qualifying and feature action.
Qualifying racing begins on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Fans can see the full schedule by clicking here.
Extra Distance at Stafford Motor Speedway Friday Night
Coming off a long night of racing with the VMRS last Friday night, Stafford Motor Speedway returns to action tonight with a full racing card and some extra distance racing. The headline division on Friday will be the Late Models, with a 50 lap feature event — 20 laps more than the division normally runs on a weekly basis.
The Limited Late Model Xtra D Special will also take place — with a 25 lap main event. The Legend Cars, SK Light Modifieds, DARE Stocks and SK Modifieds will also be in action around the 1/2 mile oval. Defending SK Modified champion Rowan Pennink has won both feature events for the division so far this season.
The qualifying action gets underway at 6:15 p.m., with the feature racing to follow. The full schedule of events for the night can be found by clicking here.
NESST Visits The Speedbowl
For the first time in series history, the North East Street Stock Tour (NESST) visits the Shoreline New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday night. The division is coming off a feature race at Claremont Speedway two weeks ago that was won by Ryan Lineham, though he will not be in action this time around.
Tour defending champion Joe Arena leads the division into the track along with many challengers that will look to continue to try and take him off the championship pace. The regular Mini Stocks, Late Models, Legends and SK Modifieds will also all be on the racing card. Dylan Izzo leads the SK Modified drivers into the 35 lap feature after scoring his first ever division victory a week ago.
The qualifying racing goes green at 5:30 p.m. and feature racing will start at 7 p.m.
GSPSS On High-Banks of “Maddog”
After Jacob Dore won in a thrilling finish at White Mt. Motorsports Park last weekend, the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) is ready for race two of 2016 at Monadnock Speedway on Saturday night. The series will lead the racing card around the 1/4 mile high-banked oval.
The running of the Rydemore.com 100 will be the last event on the schedule on Saturday night. The track regular Young Guns, Lightning Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Super Stocks and Sportsman modifieds will all be in action. Fans can see the full schedule of events for Saturday by clicking here.
