The NorthEast Race Cars Tri Track Open Modified Series will open their 2016 season this Saturday night on the 1/4 mile high-banked Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire. Series co-promoter James Schaefer tells Race Chaser Online the series expects more than 35 cars to pack the pit area for the chance at the $5,000 prize.

However, that isn’t the only racing going on across the region this weekend. Seekonk Speedway will hold many special event races this weekend, including round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Sport 4 on Friday and for the Late Models, a 50-lap feature on Saturday night.

Let’s look at the headlines going into the weekend, in this week’s edition of “The Week Ahead,” on Race Chaser Online….

Tri Track Mods Open Season at “Maddog”

The Northeast Race Cars Tri Track Series hits the track for the first time in 2016 on Saturday, with a 100 lap, $5,000 to win feature event titled the Ron Bouchard Tribute 100. The race will be in honor of long-time modified veteran and former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and Talladega winner Ron Bouchard, who was tragically lost in Dec. of 2015.

Expected entires for the 100 lap event include defending series champion Matt Hirschman and former champion Jon McKennedy. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour regular Justin Bonsignore will unload behind the wheel of the Art Barry No. 21 ride. Many other modified greats, including former series winners Chris Pasteryak and Richard Savary, along with former VMRS champion Woody Pitkat, are on the list.

The Monadnock NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions are also on hand Saturday night to fill the racing card. The Young Guns, Mini Stocks, Super Stocks and Sportsman Modifieds will all compete in their regular feature racing. Qualifying action gets underway at 5 p.m. for the Monadnock Speedway divisions and will follow with the 12 lap heats for the Tri-Track Series at approximately 6 p.m.

The 100 lap, $5,000 to win feature is scheduled to go green just after 8:45 p.m. on the high-banks of “Maddog.”

Seekonk Has Pit Party & Late Model 50-lapper Saturday; Sport 4 TC on Friday

A busy weekend is ahead at the only oval track in Massachusetts. Seekonk Speedway has two nights of action-packed racing planned, all starting on Friday night with the second week of the Fast Friday Series.

The Sport 4 division (4-cylinder cars) will compete in round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series, a 25 lap feature event. Mike Belanger and David Simpson started the season by scoring the checkered flag in the first two races of the year, but many other challengers will be there to fight with them. The SYRA 600 & 750, Pure Stocks & INEX Nick’s Pit Stop Legends are also on hand Friday night. Qualifying races go green at 7 p.m.

Saturday, the Late Models take center stage on the track, with a 50 lap feature in round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series. Last weeks winner Gerry DeGaspere Jr. will hope to repeat his victory, but defending champion Dylan Estrella will hope to rebound from some bad luck last weekend.

The Street Stocks also have a special event on Saturday — the Simpson’s Auto Care Summer Showdown, a 25 lap feature race, will pay $500 more than normal to the winner. The Pro Stocks will return to action this weekend after taking the weekend off with the Valenti Modified Racing Series in town on June 4.

At 5:30 p.m., fans can come down to the track to meet and greet with their favorite drivers in a special “Pit Party,” the first of two this season.

Qualifying on Saturday goes green at 7 p.m., with the feature racing to immediately follow.

Former season winner & defending Oxford 250 winner Glen Luce and Derek Ramstrom are also on the list. Johnny Clark, who currently sits fourth in the point standings, is excited to return to the track after a few years away.

“This weekend is what our team needs,” Clark said in a series release. “Our team needs to go to a racetrack where nobody has been for a few seasons. Plus, you throw in the fact that White Mountain has had some pavement work done since the last time PASS raced there, and it should make for a really good show.”

The five regular racing divisions at White Mt. will also be a part of the racing. The qualifying racing is scheduled to green at 5 p.m., with the feature racing to immediately follow.

Double Limited Sportsman Features at the Speedbowl

The New London-Waterford Speedbowl will hold double features for the Limited Sportsman division, as well as regular events for their entire card of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. The Legend Cars, Mini Stocks, NETS, Sunoco Late Models and SK Modifieds are also ready for qualifying and feature racing Saturday night. Keith Rocco won the 35 lap feature last weekend for the SK Mods. The qualifying action gets underway at 5:30 p.m. and the feature racing is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Fans can see the full schedule of events for the night by clicking here.

Summer Blast-Off, SK Modified XtraD & Fireworks at Stafford

A special “Summer Blast-Off” edition of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action will happen on Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway.

The SK Modifieds will compete in an extra distance 45 lap feature, five extra laps compared to what they normally run. Division points leader Rowan Pennink has won three of the four races so far this season in defense of his 2015 track championship.

The Late Models, SK Light Modifieds, Limited Late Models, DARE Stocks & Legends Cars are also on the card Friday evening for their regular qualifying and feature racing. The heat racing is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m., with the feature racing to immediately follow.

When the racing action is all concluded, fireworks will fly high in the sky at Stafford to end the action-packed night.

NEMA Hits Wiscasset Saturday Night

Coming off an event at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. the NEMA Midgets will compete at the Wiscasset Speedway this Saturday night and will be joined by the NEMA Lites. The NEMA Midgets will compete in a 30 lap feature race and the Lites will compete in a 25 lap feature.

Avery Stoher leads the Midgets points and Glen Cugini leads the Lites points going into the weekend. The regular divisions of Wiscasset Speedway will also be on the racing card.

As the month of June rolls on, there is plenty of exciting racing action planned across the New England region. Enjoy your week at the track, race fans!
