There’s nothing like a trip across the country to give a racer time to savor his record-setting season.

For Nick Lascoula, he’s hoping the trip will also let him add two more notches to his 2014 victory belt — the 23rd Annual INEX Legends Car Pro Series Asphalt National Championship Race and the Race of Champions for all State Legends points champions.

The 17-year-old finished with 13 Legends Car wins at his home track, the Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Mass., this season.  His total was the most wins ever for one driver in any division at Seekonk.  He also set a record for most consecutive wins to start a season with seven, which means he won nine in a row because he finished last season with two straight wins as well!

He leaped into 20th in all-time Seekonk victories, passing such New England notables as Ron Bouchard and Leo Cleary.

He was crowned the Masschussetts State Legends Car Champion in 2014 also, for the third time in four seasons of racing in the division.

Now he and his team will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to take on the best in INEX Legends Car racing at “The Bullring”, a track famous for producing future top-level racers, including Kurt and Kyle Busch.

“We’ve been traveling all week to get to Vegas,” Nick said Tuesday.  “We’re planning to get there by Wednesday night sometime.  Farbo Motorsports has gone through our car, put a setup in it for the track and we have a brand new 600 Racing motor in it as well.  We should be ready to go racing this weekend.  It’s pretty exciting to have the chance to do this and end our season and my Legends career with a race here.  I’m hoping it ends on a high note with a win or at least a top five finish against the best in the nation in my class!”

Following this race, Nick’s Legends car will be for sale and the team will focus all their efforts on the Late Model in 2015.

Details on the team’s 2015 plans will be announced shortly.

Practice for this weekend’s race at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway gets underway on Thursday.  Qualifying day is Friday and he will compete in the “Race of Champions” Friday night for all of the State points champions. National Championship races are on Saturday.
